We just got back from a trip to Cabo staying at Casa Vida by Sun Cabo Vacations, and had the best time! Growing up in California, I have been to Los Cabos more than twenty times – and it’s one of my very favorite destinations in the world! There’s something so special about the relaxed-yet-chic vacation vibe that a Cabo trip embodies. I recently booked a villa with Sun Cabo for my family and a couple friends, and let me tell you, this trip completely exceeded our expectations. From the breathtaking ocean views to the impeccable service, a villa in Mexico is the ultimate escape for those looking to experience the best of Cabo in style and comfort. A Vacation Designed for Relaxation and Luxury

Staying at a villa in Cabo is such a fun way to experience Los Cabos. There are so many villas to choose from (and Sun Cabo has hundreds of amazing ones) but this trip, we chose Casa Vida, in the quiet Puerto Los Cabos neighborhood. The moment we stepped into Casa Vida, we were blown away by how spacious and beautifully designed it was. With a sleek, contemporary aesthetic mixed with warm, inviting Mexican details, I loved the villa’s design. The open-concept living spaces offer a seamless flow from the indoor areas to the dreamy outdoor hacienda balconies, and the gorgeous infinity pool with views of the Pacific Ocean.

The main villa has 3 gorgeous bedrooms, as well as 3 more casitas, making this 6-bedroom property perfect for accommodating large families or groups of friends. Each room was beautiful – with chic linens, gorgeous decor, and spacious ensuite bathrooms that made us feel pampered at every turn. Whether you’re lounging by the pool, enjoying a family meal on the terrace, or retreating to your own private oasis, there’s space for everyone to unwind in peace and style.

The Best Part of the Villa: The Outdoor Space

If there’s one thing that really defines Casa Vida, it’s the outdoor space. The villa’s expansive terrace is a place where you’ll want to spend all of your time — especially in the evenings when the sun sets over the ocean and the sky turns shades of cotton-candy pink! There’s a stunning infinity pool that seems to spill into the ocean, a jacuzzi for soaking up the views, and an alfresco dining area that was perfect for our family meals.

The pool area also has a firepit and cozy seating for those cooler Cabo evenings. We loved gathering around and enjoying a cocktail while the stars came out. If you’re visiting with kids, the outdoor space has plenty of room for them to run around and explore safely, and I loved that the pool has a big shallow area that was great for my toddler to splash around in.

Thoughtful, Personalized Service

What truly elevates Villa Vida is the service provided by Sun Cabo Vacations. From the moment we booked the trip, to when we arrived, we felt like we had a great point of contact and could get any question we needed answered. The concierge team helped us plan everything from private chef + bartender services (which I highly recommend doing!!!!) to booking a boat tour, ensuring that we didn’t have to worry about a single thing during our stay.

For us, having a private chef through the villa added to our booking was a game-changer. Every time we’ve stayed in a villa in Cabo, we’ve used a private chef and it really makes the difference in your trip!!! We were treated to a personalized menu of local flavors and fresh, sustainable ingredients. It was a special touch that made our family meals extra memorable. Whether it was fresh ceviche, perfectly grilled seafood, or a traditional Mexican feast, our chef delivered a dining experience that made us feel like VIPs every single night. You don’t have to use the chef for every meal, but I highly recommend breakfasts and a few dinners of your trip being done by your chef, at least!

Cabo, but with Privacy and Exclusivity

One of the things we loved most about Villa Vida was how it combined the beauty (and fun!) of Cabo with a sense of exclusivity and privacy that was perfect for our family. While we were just a short drive from all the popular spots like downtown San Jose del Cabo, and all of the best restaurants in Cabo (like Flora Farms!!!), but at the same time it felt like we had our own little oasis away from the hustle and bustle, and the Fundadores / Puerto Los Cabos community was ultra-quiet and serene.

*Note, there is currently construction happening at the house next door to the villa we stayed in as of Fall 2024, which can be very loud and disruptive, I’m not sure when it will be finished but I will update this blog post when it is! What to do in Cabo

The best part about Cabo for a group trip is there’s something for everyone – whether you’re traveling to Cabo with a group of friends, or a multi-generational family, or with kids, there is something for everyone! Spend your days exploring Cabo’s best activities, from boat rides and snorkeling and sailing along the coast, but always looked forward to returning to the villa to unwind in ultimate peace and privacy. If you’re like me and you appreciate the balance of adventure and relaxation, Villa Vida provides the best of both worlds.

One thing I think you can’t miss on your relaxing vacation? Book a massage poolside at your villa (just ask Sun Cabo to book it for you!!) This was such a nice treat and relaxing part of our weekend! We did a couples massage and it was AMAZING!
