Dear Spiritual Seekers around the world ,
Namaste and Hello from India !
Today we gonna talk about the famous Neeb Karori Baba or Neem Karoli baba ( Baba in Hindi, an Indian Language, means a saint ) .Also known as Maharaj-ji, Neeb Karori Baba was an enlightened Hindu guru, a mystic, and an ardent devotee of a very powerful Hindu deity- Lord Hanuman. In fact, there is a popular belief among people who have lived around him that he was Lord Hanuman himself in the human form.
Baba’s real name was Laxman Das.The village of Neeb Karori, where Maharaji resided for some time in the 1930s , is the principal source of his popular name mentioned in the Title. In essence, the meaning of his name is “the baba from Neeb Karori.” However, the village name is alternately pronounced as Neem Karoli too in common daily speech.
He was known for his teachings on love, service, and the importance of chanting the name of God. Neem Karoli Baba’s teachings attracted many followers, including Westerners who travelled to India to seek his guidance. He passed away in 1973 but his teachings and his presence continue to have a profound impact on his followers and on spiritual seekers around the world. His ashrams in India, particularly the Kainchi Dham Ashram in Uttarakhand, continue to attract devotees who come to pay their respects and seek spiritual solace.
Neem Karoli Baba’s mysticism was deeply rooted in his teachings and practices. He was known for his simple yet profound teachings that emphasized love, compassion, selfless service, and the importance of devotion to God. His teachings often revolved around the idea of seeing God in everyone and everything, and he encouraged his followers to practice meditation, chanting, and selfless service as a way to connect with the divine.
One of the most famous aspects of Neem Karoli Baba’s life was his relationship with his followers, which included people from all walks of life, including Westerners who were drawn to his teachings. Many of his Western followers, such as Ram Dass (formerly Richard Alpert) and Krishna Das (formerly Jeffrey Kagel), went on to become influential spiritual teachers in their own right, spreading Neem Karoli Baba’s teachings to a global audience.
Neem Karoli Baba’s followers, known as devotees or “bhaktas,” were deeply devoted to him and often sought his guidance on spiritual matters. He was known for his compassion and his ability to see into the hearts of his followers, often giving them exactly what they needed, whether it was spiritual guidance, material assistance, or simply his presence.
There are stories and anecdotes suggesting that both Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg were influenced by Neem Karoli Baba’s teachings, but it’s important to note that their interactions with him, if any, were not extensively documented.
Steve Jobs, the co-founder of Apple Inc., was known to have traveled to India in the 1970s in search of spiritual enlightenment. During this time, he is believed to have visited Neem Karoli Baba’s ashram. Jobs later spoke about how his experiences in India, including his exposure to Eastern spirituality, had a profound impact on his life and work, influencing the design philosophy of Apple products.
Mark Zuckerberg, the co-founder of Facebook, has also expressed admiration for Neem Karoli Baba’s teachings. Zuckerberg has mentioned in interviews and public statements that he has read books about the guru and that his philosophy of simplicity and focus has influenced his approach to life and work.
While there are accounts of both Jobs and Zuckerberg being inspired by Neem Karoli Baba, the exact nature of their interactions with him, if any, remains largely anecdotal.
My Calling at Kainchi Dham Ashram
Looks like Neeb Karoli Baba himself decided to call me, with my family at his Kainchi Dham Ashram recently. Just few days back, I was going trhough reels on instagram and I came across one regarding a beautiful place near Delhi/Noida , India ( where I reside) called Naukuchiyataal in Uttrakhand. I had never ever heard this name before but on further enquiring, I was convinved that its a beautiful place and hence we should go there for vacatins. Accordingly made the bookings . Only after I had booked Hotels , made payments and all that, I just Googled “Places to visit near Naukuchiyataal” and bang came the first name ” Kainchi Dham -Neeb Karoli Baba ” . We – myself & wife had discussed many times earlier that we should go there but somehow we kept postpoing the same and here we were today , finally at Kainchi Dham as if Baba himself held my hand and said hey, drike straight to me, my ashram.
Ever since I have returned from Kainchi Dham, I can so strongly feel the presence of his strong but soothing energy around me .
It was a divine & surreal experience . Felt very happy to visit Neeb Karoli Baba’s ashram, which is now a Temple is his name. The best part is , you are NOT supposed to offer any money at the temple. Just come, feel the energy , take the Prashad and leave with a happy mood . Had another spiritual encounter at Naukuchiyataal though can’t discuss the same right now. Some other day when my Deity will allow .
Conclusion : Just Go, do visit Kainchi Dham whenever possible and You can thank me later for experience that you in all likelihood will have . Just go with a pure heart, without judging or expecting anything
