Welcome to the ‘House of Mojo’ – Where we transform fear into love through Courage.
I heard the term, Quietly Quitting, recently. I found it quite chilling. No one needs to know, but we know, we are simply and quietly disengaging; giving up.
Do you know what a razorback is? It’s a domestic pig that has escaped and gone feral. A pig never gives up at the possibility of becoming wild, I think. When they go feral, they turn into ferocious and formidable beasts.
Look at the difference between the ‘before and after’:
How much of you, of me, have we allowed to become domesticated, comfortable, pink and chubby? In all of us lies a ‘wild side,’ that side of us we know rages within us, that side of us that wants to be ourselves: wild, free, self-expressed and vibrant. Yet how often do we keep a lid on it, in favour of what is ’appropriate’ or ‘expected’ of us?
It’s hard, I know, I get it too! But when, just when will be that which we so desire in our hearts, in our longing? When we go on a ‘retreat’, when we have ‘finally made it’, or in our next life?
I encourage – I implore you – to access this creative, vibrant and wild side of your nature as often as you can! (Notice how you mind might be saying, “I already do that!” Then look to the areas and times where you don’t do that, and then go and try it anew!)
In her seminal book, Women who run with the wolves, by Clarissa Pinkola Estes, she uncovers the Wild Woman, that all women know about and many give themselves so little permission for because of how society is constructed, it’s the same for men, but different. Being Wild is done with consciousness, respect, love and above all, courage.
We are so conditioned by what I call the ‘3C’s of the Personal Apocalypse’: Culture, Conditioning and Convention. We receive messages from an early age of being clipped, curtailed and cultured. Unless we change this, by accessing our Wildness, when will we ever really live?
Here’s a way you might like to try, I call it the MOJO way:
Magic: what do you really want to do, or say, in any given moment?
Obstacles: Notice how quickly you mind comes up with all the excuses, reasons and justifications for not doing it. This is simply fear at work. She is your guide, go towards her.
Jump! Take action. Even if it is one small step. Take a risk. What is the worst that can happen?
Ovation: Well done! Give yourself a round of applause and acknowledge yourself for doing the most important thing: being courageous – acting in the face of fear.
What do you think? What could you do today?
If this message strikes you as a good one to hear about and you have an audience you can book me to speak here.
Courageously yours,
Simon.
