In an exciting fusion of traditional Chinese artistry and contemporary fashion, Maison Hennessy has unveiled its 2025 Chinese New Year limited edition collection, designed by emerging Chinese fashion designer Shuting Qiu. The collection, aptly named ‘Reimagination,’ celebrates the Year of the Snake with a bold interpretation of renewal and transformation.
Qiu, who hails from Hangzhou and now operates from Shanghai, has brought her unique perspective to Hennessy’s iconic cognac bottles. Drawing inspiration from her hometown’s rich textile heritage, she has masterfully incorporated traditional Chinese brocade patterns and jacquard fabric designs into the collection. The designer’s interpretation features vibrant abstract snake motifs that wind their way across the carafes, subtly echoing the meandering path of Cognac’s Charente River.
The collection showcases three distinct designs across Hennessy’s premium range. The VSOP edition presents a youthful energy, adorned with vivid red floral motifs and Hawaiian-inspired elements. It comes with a reusable lined bag featuring a dynamic mix of floral and leaf patterns. The X.O edition makes a bold statement with its rich palette of red, gold, and blue, incorporating traditional Chinese lozenge shapes and an elegant gold cork. The crown jewel of the collection, the Paradis edition, has been transformed into a striking red masterpiece with an abstract, sculptural snake design and a distinctive leather collar featuring tactile graphic motifs.

“Hennessy has given me an opportunity to share my ideas and vision with the world, which is an incredible platform for me, as a young Chinese designer. The Hennessy carafes are classics, and this is similar to fashion in that every brand has its classic silhouettes, unique designs and colours. My family and I often drink Hennessy during Chinese New Year, and my friends drink it when we hang out — it’s a great versatile drink, but my favourite way to drink it is simply over ice,” said Qiu, whose international perspective was shaped by her five years of study at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp.
“Hennessy has a long-lasting connection with Chinese culture, grounded in 164 years of shared history and rich artistic collaboration. And it is a great pleasure to welcome Shuting Qiu to embody the spirit with which we usher Chinese New Year festivities. Her designs epitomise a harmonious fusion of tradition and contemporary flair, offering with elegance a fitting homage to our common cultural heritage.”

The collection holds particular significance in Malaysia, where Chinese New Year celebrations play a vital role in community unity. “In Malaysia, Chinese New Year is a vibrant and cherished celebration that unites communities, bringing together families and friends in a spirit of joy and prosperity. This limited-edition collection by Shuting Qiu captures the spirit of the Snake — dynamic, resilient, and deeply connected to the cycles of renewal and transformation. We’re excited to share this special release to our enthusiastic Chinese-Malaysian community, inviting them to celebrate Chinese New Year with a piece that not only honours tradition but also embodies the innovative spirit that drives us forward,” added Laura Drozdowski, Marketing Director of Moët Hennessy, Singapore and Malaysia.
Each bottle in the collection can serve as both a celebratory drink and an artistic centerpiece, with the cognac suitable for various serving styles, from traditional over-ice to creative cocktails. Hennessy has even created a special cocktail recipe for the occasion called “The Snake,” combining their VSOP with honey syrup, ginger juice, and fresh lemon.
The limited-edition collection is now available through key retail partners and major supermarkets across Malaysia, as well as online via The Good Stuff. As Chinese New Year approaches, these artistically crafted bottles stand ready to take their place in homes across the region, embodying both the spirit of renewal associated with the Year of the Snake and the timeless elegance of the Hennessy brand.
