The holidays are one of my most favourite times of the year. It’s such a special time and I love how it brings friends and family together to celebrate.
Before I ever began enjoying cooking, I loved to bake. I used to joke that my husband was the chef of the house while I was the baker. And, to an extent, that’s still true. I love baking – it’s one of my favourite things to do and I especially love baking during the holidays.
This Christmas Eggnog Loaf Recipe has been one that I’ve really enjoyed making these last few years. It’s simple yet so delicious and fairly quick to make, too.
Christmas Eggnog Loaf Recipe Ingredients:

- All-purpose Flour
- Baking Powder
- Cinnamon
- Salt
- Egg
- Milk
- Eggnog
- Vegetable Oil
- Powdered Sugar
- Vanilla extract
How Long Does This Christmas Eggnog Loaf Bake For?
This Christmas Eggnog Loaf Recipe bakes for 50 minutes at 350F. To double-check that your loaf is baked through, take a toothpick and put it into the centre of your loaf. If you take it out and it comes out clean, then your loaf is baked. If you take the toothpick out and there is batter on it, then place your loaf back into the oven for a few more minutes.
Here’s the loaf pan I use:
Sometimes I find my loaves don’t cook through the middle, what can I do?
If you find that sometimes your loaves aren’t cooking through as well as expected, one thing you can do is put tinfoil over your loaf and bake it for another few minutes. Or, if you notice that your loaf isn’t as close to being done as you’d expect near the end of its bake time, put the tinfoil on for the last ten minutes.
How To Make This Christmas Eggnog Loaf Recipe:
- Start by combining the dry ingredients together, excluding the powdered sugar.
- In a separate bowl, combine the wet ingredients, excluding a small amount of the eggnog.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing as you go.
- Pour the batter into your loaf pan and then bake.
- Combine powdered sugar and eggnog.
- Remove the baked loaf from the oven.
- Drizzle eggnog glaze over the loaf.
Can I Make These Into Muffins Instead?
Of course! You can absolutely turn this recipe into a Christmas Eggnog Muffin recipe instead. Just be sure to adjust the cooking time as your muffins will cook much quicker than a loaf.
Other Options For This Loaf:
You can really make this loaf your own by adding in other ingredients such as chocolate chips, crushed candy cane, nuts, dried fruit & berries, and so on. Get creative and let me know what you added to this recipe to make it your own!
Can I Skip The Eggnog?
Yes, you can and instead you can use any type of milk you prefer. However, the eggnog component of this recipe is what makes this a Christmas recipe so if you’re serving it up for the holidays, you may want to add something else festive (like crushed candy canes, nutmeg, etc.) to make it have that holiday feel and taste.
The great thing about this loaf recipe is that it really is a great basic to know because you can change it and make it into whatever type of loaf you’d like. Simply swap out some ingredients to bring a whole new flavour, or even holiday, to this loaf.

Ingredients
Loaf Ingredients
- 1 cup of white granulated sugar
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp of baking powder
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup egg nog
- ⅓ cup vegetable oil
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Glaze Ingredients
- 1 cup unsifted powdered sugar
- 3-4 tbsps eggnog
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350F.
- Grease 1 loaf pan (size: 9.8″ L x 5.5″ W)
- In a medium-sized mixing bowl, add the sugar, flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt and gently stir to combine.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine eggs, milk, 1/2 cup of eggnog, vanilla extract, and oil. Using a mixer, beat together until combined.
- Now, gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing as you combine the ingredients.
- Pour the batter into the greased loaf pan and place in the preheated oven for 60 minutes. Tip: Check to see if your loaf is done by inserting a toothpick into the center of your loaf. If it comes out clean then you know your loaf is baked!
- While your loaf is baking, you can make the glaze. In a small bowl, combine the 3-4 tbsps of eggnog and powdered sugar. Add the eggnog in slowly and stop when you reach your desired glaze consistency. I find that I typically use 3-3.5 tbsps for my glaze.
- Remove the loaf from the oven and allow to cool for 10 minutes before applying the glaze.
- Pour glaze over your loaf and allow it to cool to set on the loaf.
- Serve & enjoy!
