There are many luxury hotels around the world, but many don’t allow children. Or if they do, you might feel absolutely out of place. This is why many families can feel like they’re doomed to Disney resorts the second they have kids… but don’t worry!
Many family friendly luxury hotels figured out a way to cater to anyone seeking a comfortable luxury stay, whether they have kids or not – which is why they differ from Kinderhotels in Europe that cater only to families. During our stay at these baby friendly luxury hotels, we met other families, but also people celebrating honeymoons.
Best Family-Friendly Luxury Hotels Worth the Splurge
1. Mhondoro Safari Lodge & Villa in South Africa
Mhondoro is truly a kind place and voted my kids’ favorite. Both of them constantly ask if they can live at this hotel permanently. It’s one of a few places where you can take a baby or toddler on a luxury safari. All the staff was accommodating the kids and offered activities for them, such as fishing or cookie making.
The food was fantastic for adults, but they were also willing to make anything for the kids. There’s also a small kids preschool on the site where you can send your toddlers, or ask for a babysitter for your baby.
In the afternoons the pool area was full of rhinos and warthogs and if lucky, an elephant would come drink from the pool.
2. Avani Victoria Falls Resort in Zambia
Another African favorite is Avani. Located right by Victoria Falls with its entrance to the site, the place is full of animals. Zebras and monkeys will visit you by your room and an elephant or giraffe might join you for dinner.
The resort offers big rooms that can accommodate families, but it’s the same property as Royal Livingstone – the most luxurious hotel in Victoria Falls. You’re welcome to eat there and wander around the property, but Avani tends to have more animals on that site and the pool has plenty of shallow areas for the kids.
3. Moar Gut in Austria
One of the best Kinderhotels in Austria. We had an absolute blast during our ski trip there, with a ski school on site and a free shuttle to a regular mountain for us, adults.
They had kids play areas everywhere, a few pools with slides including a baby one, numerous activities for any age, and free babysitting on site for all ages. We could enjoy time with our kids, but also let the kids play with others if we wanted some adult time.
4. Hilton Moorea in French Polynesia
Hilton Moorea is a great option for families because the snorkeling is right at the property, so no need to go anywhere far with little kids. I was surprised how many families with babies and toddlers were there during our stay.
The staff made our stay absolutely wonderful and even took our 6-month-old baby to play, so we could finish dinner in peace. My toddler and baby at the time loved watching us swim underneath our bungalows through the glass floor.
5. FS Bora Bora
Known usually for honeymoons and weddings, Four Seasons Bora Bora is incredibly family-friendly – even has its own kids club. They provided us with all the amenities and little gifts for kids. All restaurants had high chairs, plastic utensils and were willing to provide everything the kids might want. They even thought of a diaper genie so our bungalow wouldn’t stink.
6. Soneva Jani in the Maldives
There are many amazing baby and toddler-friendly hotels in the Maldives, but nothing is even as good as Soneva. Their villas are incredibly intimate, the food is insanely good, and they offer facilities like separate kids sleeping areas and even a tiny office (which I haven’t seen anywhere else in the Maldives). Not to mention a personal slide from your villa.
Soneva Jani has the best and biggest kids club in the Maldives, that’s truly one of a kind. You can enjoy it with your toddler, or drop them off if they’re over 4 years.
7. Niyama Private Island in the Maldives
Niyama is another option in the Maldives, much less expensive than Soneva. It’s a unique option as it allows kids over 3 to stay at their kids club for free (other clubs allow 4+ only).
The island is gorgeous, with a beautiful lagoon on one side and a surfing area on the other. Kids are allowed to join you at the underwater restaurant anywhere. We stayed at a few different hotels in the Maldives, and while they were all amazing, I’d say this one has more to do with kids than others. I will also wholeheartedly recommend Anantara Kihavah.
8. Silks Place in Taiwan
Silks Place is a unique hotel with modern facilities like a spa or modern restaurant, but plenty of things to accommodate babies and keep older kids occupied. The rooms have nice amenities that add a fun aspect for the kids like for example cartoon theme toothpaste, mugs for the kids, or a huge camping tent in the room,
Guests can watch and get free cinema tickets daily and every child is provided an electric car that they can drive to their rooms through the corridors and big driving area in the middle of the hotel, which also has a bouncy castle.
9. Roadster Plus Hotel in Taiwan
Roadster Plus Hotel is an ideal choice for a memorable family vacation in Taipei and one of the best baby friendly luxury hotels in the city. Their rooms are huge and modern, but the entire place is themed as a stylish circus which the hotel describes as a theme park for adults.
There are two big play areas for little ones at the property, complimentary finger foods and snacks, and a movie theater themed like an outdoor cinema, which both kids and adults can enjoy.
10. Las Lagunas in Guatemala
Las Lagunas is a luxury hotel in a convenient location in Guatemala, right on the lake and close to Flores town. Kids are welcome and have fun at the pool or your private jacuzzi overlooking the lake. For exploring families the property can arrange tours to Tikal or their on-site monkey island.
11. Island Shangri-La in Hong Kong
This Shangri-La hotel may seem like any other hotel from the brand and offers luxury amenities, but they have something else for the smallest visitors. They recently introduced family suites, which are tastefully themed rooms. There’s a safari boat, submarine, train, campervan, castle and fairy garden.
The 45th-floor lift lobby resembles a Hong Kong train station with a moving model train, and each corridor has either a garden or a marine theme. Parents can use a pantry with a washer-dryer, microwave, and other essentials for babies.
12. Park Royal Marina Bay in Singapore
This hotel offers next-level bunk beds modeled after burrows and treehouses with slides, cushions, games, and free workshops for the kids. Some rooms even offer a view over the Gardens by the Bay.
Once you leave the rooms you’ll be welcome with stunning decor and luxury amenities that feel more intimate than Marina Bay Sands (which feels slightly like an airport terminal).
13. Lux Le Morne in Mauritius
Lux Le Morne is a beautifully located resort with individual villas offering a quiet and peaceful atmosphere. It was our first big trip with a baby when Dylan was just 8 weeks old, so one of my fondest memories of baby friendly luxury hotels.
The hotel staff and facilities were amazing. The staff went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. When we booked a dolphin cruise the captain offered to babysit the sleeping baby so we could both jump in at the same time.
14. Giraffe Manor in Kenya
What child wouldn’t like to have breakfast with giraffes? Giraffe Manor welcomes kids of all ages and families frequently visit it. There are plenty of giraffe feeding opportunities, but also a swing, games, and pool – your kids won’t be bored.
15. Baha Mar in the Bahamas
Baha Mar is a chain of hotels, with SLS being the most stylish one in my opinion. They frequently have family discounts and offer amenities for babies and toddlers. There are numerous activities on-site, such as flaming feeding or an entire waterpark with shallow areas for the smallest ones. The kids loved the virgin strawberry daiquiris!
16. 1 Brooklyn Bridge
New York City can be very family-friendly as there’s much to do, but undeniably it can be exhausting. If you want to be able to escape the city 1 Brooklyn Bridge is an easy choice. The hotel is just across the river by Brooklyn Bridge, with easy access to Manhattan.
My kids loved the rooftop pool with the skyline view, which was accessible to kids until 6 pm. We had everything we needed at the hotel and it felt much less crammed than some NYC hotels can feel.
