Gorgeous. Tranquil. Exquisite.
These are just a few words to describe my overall experience at the Grand Hotel National Luzern in Lucerne, Switzerland. This was by far one of the nicest hotels I’ve ever had the pleasure to stay in.
After disembarking from the Wilhelm Tell Express boat across Lake Lucerne, my friend Dawn and I were only a 15 minute walk (or 5 minute bus ride) away from the hotel. Little did we know at the time we were about to experience one of the best hotel stays you can have in all of Lucerne. Perfectly located on Lake Lucerne with views of the Bürgenstock mountain and village, this hotel is steps away from major tourist attractions, including the Lion Monument, shopping district, and picturesque old town area.
When my friend and I walked in, we were greeted by very friendly reception that gladly took our bags to our room without us having to lift a finger! They went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and guided us through the hotel’s features. This 5-star hotel has 41 rooms (with city views or lake views), fine dining experiences, and a relaxation area. I give them a two thumbs up on all fronts!
I stayed in the Empire Junior Suite overlooking Lake Lucerne and the mountains. This Suite comes complete with two balconies, a desk area to work, a living room area, a flat screen TV and entertainment system, a Nespresso coffee machine, a comfortable King size bed, and a massive bathroom (with tub) and marble floors throughout. Another example of their kindness and attention to detail is that every evening we got back from a day of exploring we had two chocolates on the bedside tables. A sweet touch 🙂
I never actually wanted to leave the fabulous Junior Suite, but when I did, I explored even more of this incredible 5-star hotel. One of my favorite features is the relaxation area complete with a swimming pool, sauna, and fitness enter. It makes for the perfect area to relax after a long day. I saw many guests come down for a nap, swim in the pool and sit back and relax.
Besides the swimming pool and sauna area, the hotel offers 4 restaurants, 1 bar and a cute coffee shop on the main floor. Every morning, I enjoyed a lovely breakfast in one of the main restaurants called Restaurant National. While I was in town, the weather was a bit unpredictable with rain, it was so nice to have multiple gourmet restaurants only steps away from my Junior Suite to choose from, all of which have top quality fresh foods.
Overall, I had an AMAZING stay at the Grand Hotel National Lucerne. Thank you SO much to the incredible staff for all of your kind words and welcoming vibes. You can head to their website for latest offers and rates at Grand Hotel National Lucerne.
