A few winters ago, my partner and I made a New Year pact to explore a city (or small town) every weekend. We both had (and still have) full-time day jobs, so this meant frantically packing a carry-on on Thursday evenings, clocking out at 5 PM on Fridays, and just driving (and driving and driving).

Once February slipped in, the rhythm of our creaky car on empty highways began to lull us to sleep, and we (desperately) needed to stay awake. So, we shifted gears and switched from road trip playlists to audiobooks. Eventually, our book club-style chats turned into unfiltered discussions about anything and everything.

These are a few (okay, maybe more than a few) of the questions my partner and I have asked each other over the years. Use this list of couples’ road trip questions as conversation starters so long drives feel shorter (feel free to skip around and choose whatever prompt catches your eye)!
