Awesome Reasons to Visit Arizona

Arizona is the 11th most visited state in the US. What attracts tourists to this state?

The following post lists a few of the top reasons to visit.

1. See the Grand Canyon

Explore the most magnificent natural wonders!

Arizona’s most famous landmark is the Grand Canyon.

This 277-mile-long gorge can be approached from many angles, offering many breathtaking viewpoints.

You can also:

  • Take a boat ride through the canyon along the Colorado River
  • Take in aerial views from above via a helicopter
  • Even cross it via a glass bridge

The Grand Canyon isn’t Arizona’s only canyon. You’ll find several slot canyons to explore: narrow gorges shaped by wind, water, and natural erosion. For instance, Antelope Canyon is Arizona’s most renowned of the slot canyons. Check out more information about it here at https://antelopecanyon.az/

2. Explore the Sonoran Desert

The Sonoran desert covers the state’s south. It’s known for its impressive cacti and unique wildlife, including javelina and jackrabbits.

You can explore Arizona’s Sonoran desert in many ways, including:

  • Hiking trails
  • Taking a horse-riding tour
  • Exploring via hot air balloon

Phoenix is the largest city in the Sonoran desert, making it a popular base to explore.

The city has a range of hotels and hostels for all budgets. It also has some unique attractions, like the world-renowned Musical Instrument Museum (MIM), and Taliesin West – Frank Lloyd Wright’s winter home and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

3. Visit the Red Rocks of Sedona

Majestic and iconic rock formations await you.

Sedona is a desert town near Flagstaff known for its array of gorgeous red rock formations.

These include:

  • Devil’s Bridge
  • Bell Rock
  • Cathedral Rock
  • Chapel of the Holy Cross

If you’re a Westerns movie buff, you may recognize many of these rock formations from the silver screen. To get a closer look, consider hiking various trails and even climbing some of the rocks themselves.

Plan to hike these trails at dawn or dusk for the perfect lighting. Sedona sports a range of hotels that provide convenient access to the trails.

You’ll find other famous rock formations in the vicinity, too – including:

  • The Wave in the Paria Canyon-Vermilion Cliffs Wilderness. This breathtaking attraction is known for its stunning, wave-like sandstone formations, making it a favorite among photographers and hikers.
  • Monument Valley in Navajo Nation. Famous for its towering red sandstone buttes and mesas, you can plan a scenic drive, guided tours, or cultural experiences here.
